A Sneak Peek Inside My Makeup Bag of Must-Haves..

So within the bundles of what other people would class as a clutter of makeup products and what us beauty geeks would call a perfect little (or big) collection of wonder, we all have products we just can’t live without. Sometimes they’re sentimental products, whether it be a birthday present from when your family realised you’re not so into Barbie dolls anymore or your first high-end product you ever owned. Other times it’s our trusty collection concealer or Rimmel lipstick that just about appears in everyone’s makeup bags. I want to be able to talk about what’s inside my trusty everyday makeup bag that I carry everywhere with me. Although I don’t own a very impressive collection I have products I could rave about all day and night – and yes they’re drugstore too!!!

Primer: I actually have two primers my dry, dull tired skin could not live without. I have one primer that is a drugstore option, the L’Oréal Lumi Magique £9.99, I know I know it’s on the pricier side of drugstore but trust me, if you have dry skin this is a must! The primer is the perfect base for your foundation as it gives your skin that dewy glow, gorgeous! My other option is one I reach for more on a daily basis and especially for special occasions – Too faced Hangover X £27.00. Now I know this is pricey for a primer but trust me when I say it’s worth it! I suffer with dry skin and this saves my skin before I pile on the foundation, concealer and powder. It’s like a milky formula that gives dry skin the hydration it needs whilst helping your makeup to stay put, what more could you want!

Foundation: my absolute go to foundations that i choose between are (unfortunately) both high-end, my first is my trusty MAC studio fix £22 that I use on a daily basis, it gives me the coverage I need and is simply the foundation I reach for every single day. However i do own a drugstore foundation that comes close second to the studio fix which i found was almost a dupe for it -hell yeah!- L’oreal Infallible liquid foundation £10.99 resembles the buildable coverage and the long lasting formula you get with studio fix and its half the price!  My other foundation is a recent discovery Urban Decay All Nighter foundation £29 which was released towards the end of last year, I managed to get my hands on a bottle and I must say now I regret nothing! It’s full coverage, long-lasting and in no way is it drying, which is my type of perfect in a bottle! It’s perfect for special occasions and it’s my go to when I’m going out somewhere, could not rave about this enough!

Concealer: my absolute go to is my trusty Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19. Now this I could not go without, I use it to cover any blemishes, imperfections and use it to hide those pesky spots when that time of the month comes around (come on girls you know what I mean). It’s full coverage and isn’t sticky or drying which on my skin is perfect also for the price, like HELLO of course this is my favourite concealer!

Powder: For powder I went months even years of using the og powder that appeared in most of our 13 year old makeup bags, the Rimmel collection stay matte powder and it did me well all those times I used it. But moving onto bigger and better things now I like to think I’ve found my new go to powder, and yes again it’s a higher end product. The MAC studio fix powder £25 is the absolute must have if you want something that is going to keep your makeup put all day long!

Eyebrow pencil: now I only recently started taking the time to make my eyebrows a little more attractive looking than the slugs they used to be. The eyebrow pencil I used was the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz and I was raving about it for weeks but come on who can afford paying that every few weeks? That was until I came a cross a dupe (hell yes a dupe!!), The NYX Micro Brow Pencil £7.00 I mean come on do I need to say anymore? Cheap, long lasting and easy to use, perfect!

Mascara: For me, you just cannot beat the Maybelline Lash Sensation £7.99. It not only lengthens your lashes but gives them a lift making them look like you’re wearing falsies but without the hassle, wonder in a tube for sure!

Eyeliner: I only have something short to say about eyeliner but one I have been using for years now is the L’Oréal Super Liner £6.99. I cannot say anything bad about this and I think it’s safe to say this eyeliner pen taught me how to create those flicks that seem impossible, compliments galore when you use this for sure!

Eyeshadow: I own way too many palettes to be able to choose just one but what i do tend to reach for the most happens to be the Too faced Chocolate bar palette £39 and this is an absolute must have! I can create simple to more detailed looks using one product, that’s amazing in my eyes! The shadows blend like a dream and for the price the quality does not disappoint for sure, I absolutely love too faced products and can’t wait to discover more!

Contour/bronzer: For my contouring I have one product that I use but is unfortunately the most expensive product I own. Although when I say it’s worth it you best believe me! The Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour kit in light medium £39.00, although it’s pricey it never disappoints. It’s blendable, smooth and the range of colours make it so versatile, making contouring easy peasy!

Highlight: I have 2 highlighters that I choose between each day. They all range from drugstore to mid high-end. First is the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette £9.99. This palette includes 3 powder highlights and one cream and can I just say how absolutely beautiful the purple highlight is?! The pigments are amazing and sleek never fail to disappoint! The next is The Mary-Lou Manizer by TheBalm cosmetics £17.00 and hello beautiful champagne gold highlight! (Heart eyes all over) this highlight gives the mostsubtle glow but boy is it a glow to die for! It’s not too chalky and is perfect for the tops of your cheekbones.

Lipstick: For lipstick I own way too many Mac lipsticks for my bank balance to handle but to me they’re a cult classic! I reach for many and tend to switch it up every day. I will hopefully be doing a blog post on my Mac lipstick collection so stay tuned!

So this was a long blog post but I thought I’d give an insight into my makeup bag and what I use Day in day out, I hope to be able to build my collection and try out many more products and brands I haven’t discovered yet. If you have any recommendations for me to try or have some favourite products of your own, please let me know in the comments below would love to see yours!
