A New Look On Beauty..

I am so excited to be writing this blog post because I may have just found my new love in New Look’s New Beauty range. Who would of thought one of the top high street clothing brand could produce a beauty range to such a high quality. Intrigued and want to find out more? Carry on reading and I will be showing you exactly why I am raving SO hard over New Look’s cosmetics.

Recently when I was reading through the blog on the new look website I came across an old article on their new beauty range and i’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel a bit uneasy that a clothing brand have brought out their own makeup range, but they did not disappoint. Now because I am now an affiliate with them (how exciting right????) I thought it was the perfect opportunity to test out these products and to deliver the most honest review of the brand and their new beauty range because after all this is a beauty blog and I want to stay loyal and honest to my readers.

On the blog the article has an interview with the beauty editor/designer of the range and she commented:  “We have spent the last 18 months developing an exciting new beauty range with around 420 new lines that range from colour cosmetics and hair care to bath and body and every beauty accessory you could think of! We really focused on improving our formulas and sourcing premium ingredients to ensure we are offering the very best value to the consumer with great performance.”

To start this review I am going to start with probably my most favourite product that I picked up from the whole range, the foundation and contour stick £4.99. Now as someone who as dry skin I have always been too scared to try out a stick foundation but for the price I thought it was the perfect chance to try this out. Let’s just say I was hooked from the second I applied it to my face, I created strokes running down my cheeks, my nose, my chin and cupids bow and then my forehead. Then to blend it all in I used my trusty real techniques blending sponge and it blended like a dream!!! It is so pigmented but so creamy and smooth on the skin, it doesn’t cling to any dry patches and the coverage is beyond what I expected from a fashion brand’s foundation. It’s safe to say for the price this has become my new go to foundation.

To cut this post down I’ll include two products at a time so next was the Cover & Perfect concealer pen £4.49 and I must admit I have been using this and the foundation since the day I brought them. The concealer I picked up was the liquid formula and I used it to highlight under my eyes, the bridge of my nose, my chin and forehead. The colour almost instantly brightened these areas and I find it’s so easy to blend whilst still giving a good coverage on my skin for any blemishes/scars from previous spots. The Matte Powder £4.99 itself does exactly what it says it is, it mattifies the skin whilst giving a smooth finish to the skin however I felt there could be a lot more coverage and pigmentation to the product itself.

Moving onto eyes I picked up the Dark Nudes 4 eyeshadow palette £4.99 and the eyebrow pencil in dark brown £2.49. So starting with eyebrows first, I wasn’t very impressed with this pencil at all, it was very hard to create a shape for my brows and arch and I found the formula of the pencil was far too soft and creamy and too easy to rub off. However I do think the colour matched well and had good pigmentation for such a cheap price but I just didn’t get along with applying it and creating a shape, sorry New Look this product just didn’t work for me! Now the eyeshadow palette half disappointed me and half didn’t, the pigmentation and the colours in the palette I chose are stunning!! especially for the price I was so impressed by the colour pay off and how stunning they looked when watched. However the actual formula of these shadows, I did’t get on with at all. I found the colours didn’t blend at all an were actually very stiff to move around even with my fluffy morphe blending brush. If the formula was improved I would be in love with this product but unfortunately I just can’t see myself going back and buying the eyeshadows or any brow products again because of these.

The next product I picked up was a pair of lashes because it wouldn’t be a makeup look by Elle without her lashes right??? Well when I saw the price of these, which was £3.49 for two pairs of volumising lashes that looked of a good quality I did get a little excited. Now I must admit when these lashes are on the length is absolutely perfect and so complimentary but for my personal preferences I wish they were a bit thicker so that they give a bit more depth to the eye look I created. The only negative thing I have to say about these is how rubbish they are at sticking, I tried both the glue it comes with (a big plus btw) and my own glue but for some reason these lashes did not want to stick! Apart from the glue for the price of two I am loving these and I will continue to repurchase these with a hope I’ll find a glue that will stop them flying away! Well done New Look, well done!

The next product I picked up I have nothing but praise about it. The strobe kit for £7.99 gives you three shades, a neutral pink colour with the slightest shimmer, a pink undertoned highlight and a deep bronze with the slightest shimmer. I am in love with the highlight and I used the bronze colour to highlight which means this palette can be used for so much more than just adding a bit of glow! I was not disappointed in the slightest so another impressive product!

The final two things I purchased are lip products, the lip liner I have brought many of, because who can say no when it is £2.49 for a lip liner that’s full of pigment and is so soft and creamy on the lips? Not me that’s for sure! The lipstick I chose was £4.99 and In the shade mocha. Now I must admit after applying this lipstick I wasn’t keen on the colour on me personally but that is in no way a negative comment on how pigmented it was and how creamy and smooth the formula of it was. I am so so in love with these Matte lipsticks and that rose gold packaging? Hello instagrammable lipsticks😍
