A Look Using The ABH Modern Renaissance Palette…

Happy Easter lovelies even though it was yesterday.. It’s finally bank holiday weekend when I’m writing this which for everyone means a four day weekend and lot’s of lie ins, family time and relaxing! However for me, working in retail means a very busy Saturday in the delightful Bicester Village, and after a busy week working it’s so nice to finally have one day to sit down and write a blog post for you all. I love this palette and this look is perfect for spring so please do carry on reading below!

So being a lover of golds and browns to pinks and purples when Anastasia Beverly Hills brought out the Modern Renaissance I know It had to be mine. Now living in the UK does have it’s downsides (besides the weather), whenever big brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills, Tarte and Too faced release new products I constantly eye roll at the fact I can’t get my hands on the products without custom charges draining my wallet. So when I saw this on the Cult Beauty website I swear I jumped for joy. On the website it is £45 which may sound like a lot but it’s a palette with so many colour ranges you’re almost spoilt for choice. The shadows are incredibly pigmented but so soft and buttery to blend, you get what you pay for and more!

Above are swatches of the reds and purples in the palette, which are a mixture of mattes and shimmers and if I wasn’t creating the look in this tutorial I normally use Buon Fresco a matte pale lilac shade in my crease then mix venetian red and love letter to create a purple pink smokey eye with my mac rose gold pigment on the lid.

The swatches above are the warmer tones in the palette if you want to create a subtle more natural look but the two shimmers Vermeer and Primavera are absolutely STUNNING when patted onto the lid with a flat shader brush – spray the brush with a setting spray and watch that shimmer turn into an intense glow on the lid, wow!

To start the look just like any other day when I’m doing my makeup I start by priming my eyes using the Smashbox 24 hour eyeshadow primer then I set it using the matte nude shade “Tempera” on my Spectrum BO6 blending brush. Then to create depth to my crease and outer corner, on the same brush I went in with the shade Burnt Orange.img_8121

Next on the same blending brush I blended into the burnt orange the colour RealGar onto the outer corner and into the crease to create a smokey orangey red eyeshadow look. To define the outer corner on a smaller blending brush I blended more of the same shade in a half moon shape building up the colour.

Then to create an ombre affect I took two lighter colours blended together on the Morphe M411 which is a smaller more defined brush. I used Tempera and the Burnt Orange shadows on the inner corner and blend in to the reddish shadow on the outer corner. It brightened up the inner corner whilst creating an ombre look on the eye.

Then on a flat shader brush I took the shimmer shade Primavera which is absolutely STUNNING, it is a more golden undertone and I thought it complimented this orangey red spring time look. Now a little tip that I like to do to intensify the shimmer even more is to pay my brush into the product, spray the brush with my trusty fix + from Mac and it helps to make the shimmer go from 10-100, glowing for days!!! If you don’t own fix + you can use any setting spray or facial spray you may own in your collections/makeup bags.

So to finish this look off I created my wing using my L’Oréal fine liner and applied a couple of coats of maybelline lash sensation  which gave my lashes a nice thick black coat to compliment the shadows. To complete the look, I took a highlighting shadow under my brow bone which finished it off and gave me such a nice highlight to the face.

Above you’ll see the finished look, an ombré affect using the Modern Renassiance Palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills!! I loved creating this look and it’s going to be my go to over the next month of spring, gorgeous right??

I hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend, I know I’m going to enjoy these two days off for sure! I hope to become more active when I have a bit more time on my hands but we will get there with recent posts and I hope to carry on my passion for makeup and beauty blogging, who knows starting YouTube may be in the near future for me but thats a discussion to have another day. So this was my fun spring time look using one of my favourite palettes which if you’re like me and living in the U.K. With limited access, it’s being sold on the Cult Beauty Website so go check it out if you can! Speak soon lovelies!!
